Üsküdar Üniversitesi Nöropsikofarmakoloji Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi Müdürü Prof. Dr. Tayfun Uzbay, aşırı kahve tüketimi ile ortaya çıkan kafeinizm sendromunun sinirlilik, düzensiz kalp atışları ve iştah kaybına neden olduğunu söyledi.
Prof.Dr. Uzbay, günde 5-10 fincandan fazla kahve tüketimi ile kafeinizm sendromunun ortaya çıktığını belirterek şunları söyledi:
“Duyarlı bireylerde kulaklarda aşırı çınlama, orta derece delirium (akut beyin yetmezliği) ve aşırı eksitasyon gibi belirtilerle karakterize duyusal bozukluklara neden olabilir. Bu belirtiler anksiyete (kaygı) belirtilerine benzer ve ortaya çıkan sendrom ‘kafeinizm’ olarak tanımlanır. Kafeinizm Sendromu genellikle günlük 1000 mg’ın üzerindeki dozlarda sıklıkla rastlanan bir durumdur. Bu dozda kafein miktarı, yüzde kızarma, sinirlilik, düzensiz kalp atışları, iştah kaybına sebep olabilir. Bu belirtiler oluştuğunda kafein tüketimini kesmek gerekir.”
Kafein yoksunluğu baş ağrısı yapıyor
Kafein yoksunluğuna yönelik en sık karşılaşılan sorunun baş ağrısı olduğunu belirten Prof. Dr. Uzbay, “Buna ilave olarak uyuşukluk, enerji azlığı ve yorgunluk, iş motivasyonunda bozulma, özgüven ve kendini iyi hissetme duygusunda azalmanın yanı sıra sinirlilik, çabuk öfkelenme, bulantı, soğuk ve sıcak basmaları, kaslarda ağrı ve sertlik hissi gibi istenmeyen birçok etki kullanış sıklığı, kullanılan doz ve kişinin bireysel özelliklerine bağlı olarak çıkar.” dedi.
Günde en fazla 2 fincan kahve içilmelidir.
Prof. Dr. Tayfun Uzbay, günde 600 mg doz gibi yüksek doz kafeinin 6-14 gün arasında kullanılmasının “kafeine fiziksel bağımlılık gelişimi için yeterli bir süre” olduğunu belirterek “Bağımlılık gelişen kişilerde yoksunluk semptomları 12-24 saat içinde ortaya çıkmaya başlar ve 20-48 saatte en şiddetli seviyesine ulaşır.” dedi.
Aşırı tüketime dikkat edilmeli
Kafeinin anksiyete (kaygı) ve panik atak öyküsü olanlarda anksiyeteyi ve panik atakları tetikleyebildiğini de belirten Prof. Dr. Uzbay, “Bununla beraber aşırı düzeyde tüketilmedikçe normal dozlarda alınan kafeinin anksiyete ve panik atak üzerine önemli bir yan etkisi yoktur” dedi.
Gebelik döneminde kahve tüketimine dikkat
Prof. Dr. Uzbay, gebelik döneminde sürekli olarak kahve tüketilmesinin düşük riski yaratabileceğine dikkat çekerek “Günlük kafein tüketimi 300 mg’ı aştığında fötal gelişimi etkiliyor ve düşük riski oluşabiliyor. Emziren annelerde kafein süte geçerek bebek için tehdit oluşturabiliyor. Sonuç olarak gebelik ve emzirme dönemlerinde kafein tüketiminden ve kafein içeren içecek ve yiyeceklerden durmakta yarar var.” önerisinde bulundu.
